The 100 minute club

Hello friends!
What do you think of jenny's idea of committing to 100 minutes of professional writing each week? If you're up for the challenge, this will be the place to comment and share ideas, to "sign up," if you will.

Hi, this is Sue from Vermont. I am joining the 100 Minute Club and am proud to say that I did 20 minutes of writing on my article today. I added a little research and did a little revising. So only 80 minutes to go for this week!by the way, can anyone explain to me how to do a profile on this blog?

This is fantastic! I am so excited about this blog. I think we hay have to sign comments with our real names, as the handles are unknown to the rest of your colleagues. Rebeca

I'm in for the 100 minutes too, even though I was resistant. My first project is to write a reflection/ article for our local newsletter, as I think that will be the best "thank you" to give to my local organization. I'll write up a paragraph for the MCTE publication as well, to encourage other writers and teachers. And THEN I'll get back to multigenre.
Regarding profile...not sure. Blogs are definitely trial and error, and thankfully more trial than error. There's not much to mess up.

I am definetely excited about the 100 minute club. I ended up having some airplane trouble (a passenger from a flight before acutally flushed a used diaper into the plane bathroom which caused a five hour delay to unclog!) Needless to say, that incident definetely gave me a head start for this weeks minutes :)

Oh, yeah, I'm in. What a wonderful way for us to stay in touch and keep each other on task. We can be out own response group.
I plan to use Sherrie's plan and write a thank-you letter to MWP to let them know how much the retreat meant to me. Later I can let them know of published pieces.

Hi, Since this was my idea, I'd better make a public committment also! Yes, I'm in. My sup wants an article for a newsleter that goes out to all our districts, so that is where I'll spend my first few 20 minute sessions.

Is there any way to spell check my comment before I send it?

Sherri, thanks for birthing this blog! Jen

To Kristina and the five-hour diaper delay: Why this foolishnes? I hope your delay was in the airport and not on the airplane.

Yes, it was Jenny's idea--I would have said more like the 40 minute club. But I AM committed
And you're welcome for starting the blog; it's very easy. I don't really like the image "birthing the blog" though...
Sherri
Spell check--no. You can preview your comment, but you can do that on the regular typing box too.

Jenny- in reference to the airplane trouble, it was such a nightmere! I ended up missing my connecting flight and having to stay the night in Minneapolis. I should have stayed another day in Sante Fe!!

To All 100 minute clubbers- I was so inspired by the positive and productive discussions that I participated in during the writing retreat that I spoke with the assistant principal of my school about starting up our own opportunity for teachers to get together and particate in inquiry/discussion groups as a form of professional development. She loved it, so my next 100-minute club assignment is to write a grant in order to pay teachers to partipate and pay for food/materials.

I'm slow responding, but I'm in! Just finished a young creative writers camp on campus-- so, so fun. I was really impressed with how focused the students were. Two girls even passed up the chance to play in the evening so they could keep working on their pieces.

Sheila (literaqueen being the handle-- I didn't know that term before, so thanks, Rebeca for teaching me a new vocab word)

I am definately in for the 100 minute club. I did my first 100 minutes all at once in a coffee shop last Tuesday. It finished a first draft of my article. I also started writing just to write - something I haven't done in a while.

I'm back from an extended stay in Santa Fe and vicinity--it was a great vacation! The 100-minute club is a great idea. I'm in! I'll need encouragement once I start facing six classes of seniors August 11, though. .

OK, I'm starting my 100-minute commitment late, due to lost luggage hassles, a cold, internet problems, and your basic, run-of-the-mill ennui. But here I am, raring to write! My travels in New Mexico after the retreat gave me a lot of writing inspiration. Oh, plus I'll work on my article!

I should also mention that this "merrichan" is Merritt!
