A third wind: September 22nd

I'm hoping everyone's worked out their blog access glitches by now. What's going on with writing? I'm juggling three different pieces right now, which is a little crazy-- no problem getting 100 minutes in, though . . .

HELP. I am out of the pack (still) What shall I do?
I am writing like a madwoman..with much food for thought. Hoping all is well with other writers.

I hope we get to average our 100 minutes. Some days/weeks there's nothing; then a flourish of many hours' activity. I'm still working on the Bravery piece and am having trouble with the ending and think "Happily ever after" has a nice ring to it. I hope he worms of creativity are still making rich compost for your writing lives. Happy writing. Beth

I woke up this morning with a first line in my head. I hope it holds. I'm typing away, trying to complete the submission for our anthology. But I'm wondering: putting it in the anthology doesn't "publish" it in a way that makes it undesired by other publications, does it?

I don't know about publishing guidelines. I do, however, look forward to seeing my piece in the anthology. Here's one of my favorite affirmations.

It is a pleasure
When, spreading out some paper,
I take brush in hand
And write far more skillfully
Than I could have expected.

It is a pleasure
When, after a hundred days
Of twisting my words
Without success, suddenly
a poem turns out nicely.

Successful writing to us all, Beth

I emailed Nikki to ask about how people are doing citations--APA or MLA--and she said either is fine. What are others using? It'd be nice if they're consistent, and I'm willing to go with either. We have our fall break this weekend (Th. and Fri.) so I'm trying to finish things up. School leaves me no time for my own writing!

I suggest we use MLA since that is used in most of the education and English journals. Are you incorporating academic sources into your papers? Beth

Are there other retreat writers heading for San Antonio? I would love to talk and share a cup of joe-or wine-or whatever!
